When the Cat Distribution System sends a cat your way, it means you're owed congratulations - you will be a pawrent to a purrecious little fluffball. It doesn't ask if this is a good time, the CDS doesn't knock on doors asking if you have a meowment to hear about their list of cats in need of a home. It sends the cat your way and - congrats! You're a pawrent. Some cats even force their way into your home until you adopt them. It's not a question of whether you're ready to adopt a cat, it's a question of your level of pre-readiness. You might be in the middle of something, like moving to a new place… Which is exactly what happened to this one family who were about to move away and were chosen by a sweet stray cat on their property.
What do you do in this situation? Well, the wife didn't hesitate for a second. Sure, the CDS timing was really bad, but a decision was made - this cat will be taken care of, despite moving day inching so close with every passing day. It took one deal with hubby - let's TNR the cat, give her to a nice shelter, and if she's still available after a month from moving, we're adopting. Spoiler alert: She's in her forever home, happy and safe.
