Usually, when you adopt a cat, there is an adjustment period. Even if your cat is the most affectionate cat that you have ever met, chances are that it's going to take a while for it to get used to you, to the new home, the new routine and environment. Sometimes, that period is longer and other times, it is short, but it's always there. It takes time and patience, and that investment, once it pays off, really truly pays off.
Except that it's not always like that. There are times when, somehow, there is no adjustment period. The first second, the cat knows that it is yours and that you are theirs, and that's that. Just like that, the cat is cuddling with you, sitting on your lap, climbing onto your shoulder, purring every single second, because it knows, instantly, that it is home. That was the case with the kitty in this story. Somehow, right when she saw her humans, she knew they were going to be together until the end, and so she climbed up on her chosen human's lap and staked her claim.
