We never knew what being "owned" was until we got a cat.
Seriously, being owned by a cat is nothing like belonging to anyone else. We spent our entire infancy, childhood, and teen years "belonging" to our parents. They fed us, taught us to walk and talk, but we became our very own adults. We spent a long time in relationships, being "someone's", belonging to another half. These partners taught us about ourselves and about how we deal with life when another person is involved, but these people are no longer in our lives. We spend time at work, providing value to be compensated, but no one likes to feel like they're "owned" by their boss, corporate, or management.
But then we adopted a cat. All it took was one look, one pet on their head, a little bit of purring, and we were hooked. And "hooked" is not even a word that describes it all. We were owned, and gladly so. Whatever our cat wants - we do, we bring, we make. Whatever our cat demands - we serve, with love. Our cat is our entire world, and we wouldn't have it any other way. No one else has ever "owned" us… No one else but our beloved feline friend.
