Everyone always talks about how independent cats are, but we don't hear enough people talk about how fiercely protective cats are of their own. They will go to the end of the earth to protect their kittens. And pregnant momma cats, those whose kittens are not here just yet, will do their absolute utmost to make sure that their kittens come into the world in the best, safest place that they can find. Seriously, pregnant cats will crawl through whole backyards to find safety. Pregnant cats will show up at random people's houses and give birth there if they think it's safest. Pregnant cats will even ask people for help, no matter how scared they might be, all to make sure that their kittens are safe.
But the pregnant cat in this story… now, that's a special case. The shelter who found her thought that she had accidentally gotten caught, but we think that's not the case. After everything that we have seen cat moms do and considering how quickly she went into labor after getting to the shelter, we are pretty sure that "getting caught" was a calculated risk on her part. And it totally paid off.
